Scenarios and limitations applicable to DC EV Charger
2026,10,27
In addition to fixed wall mounted and pillar mounted equipment,
DC EV Charger also have portable on-board chargers, which are mobile AC charging devices and are often used by car owners as emergency energy replenishment tools.
The general plug of on-board charging can be directly connected to the household 16A air conditioner socket, and the power is mostly 3.5kW. Some models support 7kW gear adjustment, which is compact and can be placed in the trunk. It can be used for emergency when there is no fixed charging pile when traveling or go home.
The principle of on-board charging is consistent with that of wall mounted AC piles, which belongs to AC slow charging and relies on on-board OBC to convert electrical energy. However, on-board charging has obvious limitations and is suitable for temporary short-term use. It is not recommended to install charging for a long time.
The wiring standard for ordinary household wall sockets is low, and the cable diameter of old wall sockets is insufficient, which can easily generate heat when carrying high currents for a long time and pose a fire hazard. When using on-board charging, it is necessary to confirm that the socket is well grounded. Grounding failure will trigger equipment protection and prevent charging.
When choosing a car, it is necessary to identify national standard products with temperature control and leakage protection, and reject three no products. Do not fold or wrap the cable during charging, as the heat accumulation during wrapping can accelerate cable aging.
If the socket gets hot, stop charging immediately. Onboard charging and positioning is an emergency supplement and cannot replace fixed DC EV Charger. Long term fixed charging scenarios, priority installation of wall mounted charging stations, standardized wiring, and higher safety protection levels.
